7 steps for RPA deployment in your company
From goal setting to maintenance, check out a few key steps to take when deploying robotic automation
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a technology that has been gaining prominence in companies, as it is increasingly being held as a way to promote operational efficiency and productivity.
This dynamic allows for the automation of repetitive and rule-based tasks, freeing up human resources to carry out corporate activities that require more analytical skills and technical specialties.
However, it is important to bear in mind that successful RPA deployment requires careful planning and a strategic approach.
Domingues e Pinho Contadores' Innovation and Technology Development Laboratory – Labtech - a team dedicated to designing solutions of this sort for clients, have listed 7 important steps to take when carrying out this process. Check them out!
1. Goal setting and planning
As a first step, you should determine what you hope to achieve with automation, such as error reduction, increase in efficiency, time saving, improvement in service quality, process standardization or system integration. Setting goals will help measure how success the deployment will be and justify the investment in RPA.
Planning the implementation of robotic automation should take into account the specific needs of the business and its goals.

2. Process mapping
The next step is to analyze existing processes in more detail, identifying repetitive and manual workflows and tasks that consume significant time and resources, while assessing the inputs and outputs, rules and exceptions that should be put in place during development.
Stable, well-defined processes with clear rules are the most likely to benefit from automation.
3. Choosing the right RPA tool
The choice of software depends on the business needs, the complexity of the processes that require automation, the existing infrastructure and the team's level of technical skill.
Your choice may vary depending on the desired approach or architecture (e.g. RPA Desktop, Low-Code Tools, No-code, etc).
It is also worth considering the possibility for customization, ease of integration with the company’s systems and future maintenance and support requirements.
4. Development and testing
Once a schedule is set, the team in charge develops an RPA solution based on the mapping, which is done in a controlled and secure environment, known as a sandbox.
If necessary, those responsible for the deployment must perform the proper adjustments until everything is ready to be fully implemented.
5. Deployment
During this stage, a pilot deployment is carried out with part of the production environment, still in a controlled manner to mitigate eventual issues. Then, the procedure continues gradually until it is complete.
At this point, automation should be running smoothly and all tasks can be tracked.
6. Monitoring
Once everything is working properly, it is possible to collect and monitor metrics such as running time, error reduction, resource savings, impacts on efficiency and quality of service.
7. Training
An important aspect is to train users to adapt to the changes that have been put in place.
Post-deployment stage also requires attention
It should be pointed out that when processes change, automation will require adjustments. Therefore, it is worth considering planning periodic reviews and support services to keep operations running properly over longer periods.
