The government announces eSocial modernization
Under the justification of reducing bureaucracy and stimulating the generation of jobs, the government announced on July 9 the modernization of eSocial (Digital Bookkeeping System of Tax, Social Security and Labor Obligations). The decision was expected, after rumors of simplification or the end of the platform were widely reported by the media in recent weeks.
The changes have not yet been detailed, but there is discussion of a large reduction for data that the employer must report by replacing the eSocial system with a leaner one. According to the schedule approved by the steering committee, the changes will come into effect by the first quarter of next year.
The special Secretary of Social Security and Labor, Rogério Marinho, at a press conference, said that eSocial will only work in the current way until January 2020, and as from next year, the platform will be replaced by two other systems: one from Federal Revenue and another from Labor and Social Security. Despite the expansion, the promise is that they will be two simpler platforms.
During the announcement, the information indicating that the groups that have already provided the information to eSocial will not be impacted was highlighted, as the new process will respect the investments in technology and training made by these companies.
The new system also includes a program to be used by medium and large companies and another specific for micro and small companies.
Over the next few months, the information required on the platform will be significantly reduced until the new solution is introduced in early 2020.
