RJ amends the standard on the Livro de Reclamações in establishments

The Official Gazette of the State of Rio de Janeiro, of Sep-13-2019, brought the publication of Law 8.527/2019, amending the wording of Law 6613/2013, which deals with the provisions regarding the obligation of establishments that supply goods or service providers in the state of Rio de Janeiro to make a complaint book available to consumers.

With the change, granted service providers to the public should make available tools at their website to enable consumers to make a complaint.

In addition, the new law indicates that complaints-book requirements do not apply to individual microentrepreneurs (MEI), microenterprises (ME), and small businesses (EPP).

A deadline was set for the adjustment of the companies that remain required by the Law 6613/13:

a) large and medium-sized enterprises will have one-year deadline;

b) small and medium-sized enterprises will have two-years deadline;

c) The companies that opt for Simples Nacional will have a term of three-year deadline.

The Law 8527/2019 entered into force at its publication (Sep-13-2019).
