CBE 2020 - Assets of any nature held outside the country by residents of Brazil must be reported to Central Bank
Warning: the period to file the Statement of Brazilian Capitals Abroad (CBE) required annually by the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen) ends on April 06, 2020.
Who are required?
The Statement of Brazilian Capitals Abroad (CBE) is required to all legal entities and individuals residing in Brazil holding securities, assets and/or rights abroad in amounts equal to or greater than a US$100.000,00 (one hundred Thousand dollars), equivalent to R$ 403.010,00 (four hundred and three thousand, ten Brazilian Reais), on December 31, 2019.
For CBE purposes are considered assets, goods and rights, deposit, availability in foreign currency, loan, shares, participation in the capital of a foreign company, among others.
Penalties
We emphasize that not filing the CBE, filing it after deadline, and/or providing incorrect, incomplete, or false information may lead to penalties applied by the Bacen, ranging from BRL 2,500.00 to BRL 250,000.00, which may be increased by 50% in some cases.
