Quarterly Financial Economic Statement (DEF): submission deadline is June 30

Companies that receive foreign investment must keep an eye on this Bacen requirement

Companies receiving foreign direct investments, with assets or equity of BRL 250 million or more are required to submit the Financial Economic Statement (Declaração Econômico-Financeira - DEF) to the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen), every quarter.

The next submission period, concerning the reference date 03/31/2021, ends on 06/30/2021.

DEF includes information related to the capital, equity, assets, liabilities and "flow accounts" determined every quarter.

This statement is done at the Bacen RDE-IED system (Electronic Declaratory Registry - Direct Foreign Investment). The data presented must concern only the company receiving investments, not the whole economic group it participates in.

Failure to submit the DEF, late submission, or provision of false, incomplete or incorrect information may result in fines of up to BRL 250 thousand.
