Central Bank opens public comment on the regulations of foreign loans and foreign direct investment

On July 19, the Central Bank of Brazil issued a notice announcing Public Comment No 91/2022, the second related to Brazil's new foreign exchange legislation (Law No 14,286/2021).

According to the institution, the aim is to improve the country's business environment while helping Brazilian companies enter international markets and increasing the appeal of the local economy towards foreign investors.

More specifically, this consultation addresses the Brazilian exchange market, the Brazilian capital abroad, the foreign capital in the country, and the submission of information to the Central Bank.

Up until September 2, those interested in the aspects under discussion can submit their contributions to improve the regulations. Click here to participate.

The third public comment, which is yet to be disclosed, will cover aspects related to investments in the financial and capital markets and to Brazilian capital abroad.

Known as the "Legal Framework for Foreign Exchange", Law No 14,286/2021 comes into force in December 2022. Until then, the Central Bank must issue regulations on the matters pertaining to it.
