Quarterly CBE: next statement must be filed with the Central Bank by June 5

Whoever owns at least US$ 100 million abroad or the equivalent thereof must file the CBE

From April 30 to June 5, a requirement must be complied with by individuals and companies resident or based in the country that, on December 31, 2023, held assets abroad amounting to US$ 100 million or the equivalent thereof in other currencies. Anyone falling within this group is required to submit the quarterly statement of Brazilian Capitals Abroad (CBE) to the Brazilian Central Bank (Bacen).

Assets include goods, rights, financial instruments, cash in foreign currency, deposits, real estate, shares, stocks, bonds, trade credits, etc.

According to the Central Bank of Brazil, data collected through the CBE is used for sourcing the country's international macroeconomic statistics, such as its Balance of Payments (BOP) and Net International Investment Position (NIIP).

Fines for non-compliance range from BRL 2,500 to BRL 250,000, and are subject to a 50% increase in some situations.
