Economic-Financial Statement (DEF): quarterly submission deadline is June 30

Companies receiving foreign direct investment (FDI) whose total assets are equal to or greater than BRL 300 million can submit their information pertaining to the base date of March 31, 2024, to the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen). The deadline for submitting the Quarterly Economic-Financial Statement (DEF) is June 30.

What should be reported in the DEF?

Recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) must report the following data in the statement:

• Paid-in capital
• Net worth
• Assets
• Liabilities
• Net profit / loss for the reported period
• Profit distributed in the reported period
• Estimated market value of the company
• Valuation method
• Income/expenses from asset impairment
• Financial income / expenses arising from exchange rate variation
• Voting shares (%) held by the non-resident investor
• Investor’s contry of origin
• Country of the ultimate controlling party
