Electronic Judicial Domicile: companies must register by May 30

Large and medium-sized companies in Brazil are required to register with the Electronic Judicial Domicile by May 30. This digital platform allows for centralized communication of case proceedings across all Brazilian courts.

What is the Electronic Judicial Domicile?

This is a 100% free digital platform designed to streamline and speed up the process of consulting and responding to summonses, notices, and other legal communications issued by courts across Brazil.

What happens if a company does not register?
Beginning May 30, registrations will be carried out automatically using data retrieved from the Federal Revenue Service. However, companies that fail to register by then will face penalties and may risk missing important procedural deadlines.

What changes?

With this platform, users can view communications and confirm receipt without the need to access individual court systems.

The schedule for responding to these communications have been updated:

• Users have 3 business days to acknowledge summonses after they are issued by the courts;
• Users have 10 calendar days to respond to notices.

What are the consequences of failing to comply with the rules?

Anyone who fails to acknowledge receipt of the summons within the prescribed time frame and does not provide a valid justification will be subject to a fine of up to 5% of the amount in dispute.

It is important to note that the legal representative of the company is responsible for registering and monitoring communications on the Electronic Judicial Domicile.
