DUIMP: new declaration required for imports starting in October
Import activities will now be registered through the Single Foreign Trade Portal
Starting October 1, administrative processing and customs clearance procedures pertaining to imports, which are currently recorded through the Siscomex LI/DI system, will transition to the Single Foreign Trade Portal. From that point on, all import declarations must be made using the Single Import Declaration (DUIMP).
This system migration aims to boost efficiency and simplify import processes by cutting through red tape. Some key benefits include a 99% reduction in paper use, the convenience of using a single license for multiple operations, and the ability to pay fees directly through the portal.
It is important to note that product information must now be registered in advance. Unlike the previous system, where details like descriptions and tax classifications were entered directly into the document, the new system requires these details to be added separately to the product catalog before being entered into the declaration.
Migration schedule
The transition to the new system will be gradual. Initially, it will apply only to maritime import operations for consumption under special customs regimes that do not require licensing, such as RECOF and REPETRO.
In January 2025, the system will expand to include air imports, operations subject to administrative control, and foreign purchases under the Drawback Suspension and Exemption regimes.
The third phase, set for the second half of next year, will cover land imports and those made under the Manaus Free Trade Zone regime.
