Brazilian Capital Abroad: Quarterly CBE must be submitted by December 5th
Between October 31 and December 5, the Central Bank of Brazil will receive the quarterly report of Brazilian Capital Abroad (CBE) for the base date of September 30, 2024.
All individuals and legal entities that are residents, headquartered, or domiciled in Brazil and that, on September 30, held foreign assets valued at a minimum of US$ 100 million or the equivalent in other currencies must declare the CBE.
The assets in question correspond to goods, rights, financial instruments, foreign currency availabilities, deposits, real estate, company holdings, shares, securities, trade credits, etc.
The CBE is an important tool for the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen) to monitor the Brazilian economy and its external vulnerability, which helps in the development of public policies for the country's economic strengthening, in addition to producing statistics such as the Balance of Payments and the International Investment Position.
Quarterly submissions
The deadlines for the quarterly CBE submissions are fixed:
- Effective date 12/31 – 02/15 a 04/05 of the following year
- Effective date 03/31 – 04/30 a 06/05 of the same year
- Effective date 06/30 – 07/31 a 09/05 of the same year
- Effective date 09/30 – 10/31 a 12/05 of the same year

Individuals or legal entities that fail to declare the CBE, or in the other cases provided for in the legislation, may face fines ranging from BRL 2,500 to BRL 250,000. In some cases, the fine may be increased by 50%.
