DPC lectures on tax aspects of the oil and gas market in Brazil in the USA
The event summarizes the OTC 2019 and discusses the future of the sector in Brazil.
On Thursday, May 9, the representatives of Domingues e Pinho Contadores spoke at the event "Doing Business in Brazil and OTC Follow-Up", whose objective was to open a dialogue on the impressions of the Offshore Technology Conference 2019 and the future of the oil and gas sector in Brazil. As part of DPC's commercial mission in Houston, directors Luciana Uchôa and João Henrique Brum debated with those present about the current business environment in Brazil, investment opportunities and how the oil and gas market is becoming important at this time. The event was promoted by the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States and included other speakers, legal experts, and representatives of entities from the sector, such as IBP.
Hanno Erwes, director of AHKRio; João Henrique Brum and Luciana Uchoa, directors of DPC; Marcello Lobo, partner of Pinheiro Neto Advogados; Max Oster, of AHK Atlanta; and Victor Montenegro, manager of IBP.

In the lecture "Doing Business in Brazil", Luciana and João Henrique presented important points about the implementation and legalization process of companies in Brazil, as well as tax aspects and the treatment of foreign capital in Brazil. "This year's OTC was special. It brought encouraging perspectives to the industry and, as we have many clients in the area, it is important for DPC to be aware of all this. This Thursday's event was a great summary of what we saw here and we were still able to talk about our vision and expertise in the oil and gas area in Brazil", said João Henrique Brum.
The segment represents a significant portion of DPC's client portfolio and, for being a specialist in the industry and advising several multinationals in the industry, it was possible to outline clearly such opportunities, with more assertive view to some legal and tax aspects of the Brazilian environment, detailing rules for transactions with the head office abroad, records of investments and remittances, added to relevant issues about the legislation in Brazil.
"Participating in events like this is very rewarding, to see that Brazil has attracted investors in the global scenario. In relation to last year, we noticed a much greater interest of investors in our country. The trend is for this to become stronger with the new pre-salt auctions that are to come," adds Luciana Uchôa.
