eSocial: companies should be aware of the communication of temporary leave
The information of work leave, rather, was filed in a number of obligations, but now, this data will be concentrated in eSocial. Therefore, it is important to know the filing rules and be aware of deadlines.
Reasons of work leave
When an employee stay away from work due to illness, work related accident, maternity leave, vacation or for other reasons, information must be filed in eSocial through S-2230 event. In this event, the employer must record all the work leaves listed in table 18 of the eSocial layout. Click here to see the table.
The obligation and deadline for filing each event are conditioned to the reason and time of the work leave.

Medical certificate
An employee who leaves away from work due to illness or an accident at work must deliver the medical certificate. This certificate must include:
• Number of work leave days;
• Doctor's name;
• Class entity identification;
• Abbreviation of the state of this organ;
• Doctor's registration number;
• CID (mandatory in cases of work-related accident or illness).
ESocial allows up to nine different professionals' certificates to be stated for the same leave, so the employer will have to state the entire history of certificates to justify the extension of work leave for the same reason and illness, when there is no return to work.
Important points
• In case of an accident at work, illness or suspicion of a disease, the certificate must have the CID (ICD - International Classification of Diseases);
• In cases of work leave by codes [1] or [3] of Table 18, motivated by a traffic accident, it must be recorded if they were caused by a road accident, collision or other type of accident;
• Eventual medical certificates of the attending doctor delivered to the company from the 16th day of work leave will be used only for internal control, and the information should not be sent to eSocial;
• Work leave events can be sent in three ways: with start-only, end-only, and start-and-end information.
ESocial changed the way of communication of these occurrences to interested public agencies, increasing the level of detail and changing the deadlines for filing information that becomes closer to the triggering event. Therefore, it is necessary that both the employer, with the HR team and the team managers, as well as the employees, be aware of this information, of the obligation and the deadlines, avoiding exposure to fines for delay or failure to comply with this obligation.
