Minimum wage for payment of social security benefits and pensions has been announced
On January 11, the Ministry of Social Security and the Ministry of Finance published the MPS/MF Joint Ordinance No. 26/2023, establishing the minimum wage in place for the adjustment of benefits and pensions at BRL 1,302.00 (one thousand three hundred and two Brazilian reais).
The regulation is in line with the minimum wage provided for under Provisional Presidential Decree No. 1,143/2022 and adjusts the benefits paid by the Brazilian Social Security Administration – INSS and the Salary Base Table applicable to insured employees as well as to domestic and self-employed workers.
As of January 1, 2023, employers must collect the INSS contribution from their employee’s payroll according to the table below:
