In today's business landscape, the digitization of processes is an undeniable reality. One clear example of this is the issuance of electronic invoices (NF-e), which enhances both efficiency and security for companies. However, to ensure the authenticity and integrity of these invoices, it is essential to use an NF-e digital certificate.
What is an NF-e Digital Certificate?
The NF-e digital certificate is an electronic signature that serves as a virtual identity, ensuring that invoices issued in a company's name are authentic and secure.
What is the NF-e digital certificate for?
It should be noted that the processes for issuing, validating, and authorizing invoices with the tax authority must be carried out using a digital certificate. The NF-e digital certificate allows authorized employees – regardless if they are the company's legal representatives –, to issue important documents such as:
- Electronic Invoices (NF-e);
- Electronic Single Invoices (NFA-e);
- Electronic Consumer Invoices (NFC-e);
- Electronic Service Invoices (NFS-e).
In other words, the certificate will be tied to the company's registration number (CNPJ) but it will be issued in the name of the person appointed for issuing the invoices.

How to obtain an NF-e digital certificate?
The process is simple but requires attention to a few details. The most important step is to choose a Registration Authority (RA) accredited by ICP-Brasil, such as Domingues e Pinho Contadores, to issue the digital certificate. Find out more here.
Another important consideration is whether you need the A1 or A3 certificate model. The A1 certificate is stored on a computer and is valid for one year, while the A3 certificate is stored on a physical device (token or card) and can be valid for up to three years.
