PGFN extends the deadline for renegotiation of debts registered as overdue tax liability
The modalities of transaction allow for the debt renegotiation in installments and with discounts
Through Ordinance PGFN/ME No. 15,059, published on the Federal Official Journal on December 27, the National Treasury Attorney-General’s Office (Procuradoria Geral da Fazenda Nacional, or PGFN) extended the deadline for taking part in the Tax Recovery Program.
Taxpayers with existing settlement agreements may demand, up to 7 PM (Brasília time) on February 25, 2022, the renegotiation of the respective modality to include other debts registered as overdue tax liability before the Federal Government and before FGTS (Fundo de Garantia por Tempo de Serviço, or Guarantee Fund for Length of Service), in which case the same requirements and conditions of the original settlement must be observed. Before the extension, the deadline for signing up was December 29, 2021.
Taxpayers whose debts are registered as Federal and FGTS overdue tax liability until January 31, 2022 can sign up for the program.
The Tax Recovery Program was instituted in September 2020, to stimulate tax compliance and motivate economic recovery amidst the effects of the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.
