Quarterly CBE: Deadline for filing report to the Central Bank is September 5
Submissions are mandatory for companies and individuals who, as of June 30, 2024, held assets abroad equivalent to USD 100 million or more
Companies and individuals with assets abroad should be mindful of the upcoming deadline for the quarterly submission of the Statement of Brazilian Capital Abroad (CBE). The filing period, which opened on July 31, ends on September 5.
What is the Statement of Brazilian Capital Abroad?
The Statement of Brazilian Capital Abroad (CBE) is a requirement imposed by the Central Bank of Brazil to collect data for tracking the flows and stocks of Brazilian capital held abroad and to gather information on the country’s international financial position.
Individuals and companies with assets abroad totaling USD 100 million or more, or the equivalent thereof in other currencies, as of the relevant reference date, must submit this report quarterly.
Those with assets of USD 1 million or more outside the country are also required to provide information, but only once a year.
Submissions must be made according to the following schedule:

What should be reported?
Declarants must provide detailed information on the nature, value, and location of assets held overseas, including not only property and valuables but also shareholdings, real estate, financial investments, crypto and derivative financial assets.
Additionally, they must report liabilities and income, such as loans and interest receipts, as well as any changes in the economic value and composition of assets that occurred during the reference period.
Penalties
Failure to submit the report or providing false, incomplete, incorrect, or late information may result in a fine of up to BRL 250,000.
