Quarterly DEF must be submitted by 12/30

Companies should regularly report a variety of economic-financial data to the Central Bank

Companies receiving foreign direct investment with equity or assets equal to or greater than BRL 250 million must fill out an Economic-Financial Statement (DEF) every three months.

Information to be supplied

All data supplied in the DEF should pertain only to the company receiving foreign direct investment and not to the consolidated earnings of its business group.

Types of information to be provided include: paid-in capital, equity, assets, liabilities, net profit/loss, shared profit, business’s market value, valuation method, income/expenses from impairment, financial income/expenses from exchange rate change, voting shares held by non-resident investors, country of residence of investors, and country of the ultimate holding company.

Sanctions

Failing to submit the statement on time or doing so providing false, incomplete or inaccurate information warrants a fine of up to BRL 250,000.
