Quarterly Periodic Statement with the Central Bank: next submission must be made by June 30

Companies receiving foreign direct investment with assets of BRL 300 million or more must comply with this requirement

Companies receiving foreign direct investment whose total assets are equal to or greater than BRL 300 million must file the periodic statement with the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen). The next submission, pertaining to the 03/31/2023 base date, must be made by July 30.

The Quarterly Periodic Statement must be filed using the Economic-Financial Statement (‘Declaração Econômico-Financeira’ - DEF) function of the System for Provision of Information on Foreign Direct Investment.

The DEF should contain information on the identification of investors who are non-resident for tax purposes and the corresponding foreign direct investment codes, which are necessary for reporting foreign direct investment and accounting-related information on the recipient.

Penalties

Failure to file the periodic statements or supplying false, incomplete, misleading, or untimely information warrants a fine of up to BRL 250,000.
