Sampa Sandbox: São Paulo City regulates program for scientific and technological innovation

On July 13, the São Paulo City Hall published Municipal Decree No. 62,561/2023, which regulates the Sampa Sandbox program. Created by Law No. 17,879/2022, this local effort allows companies to distribute goods and services with less bureaucracy, by fostering the creation of sandboxes for scientific, technological and business innovation.

The program will be selecting local projects that need regulatory testing environments to foster innovation with the aim of promoting efficiency, resilience and sustainability in the city. Applications for those projects may be filed by legal entities in good standing with their corporate obligations, including startups, and by private or state-owned Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institutions (ICT).
