DPC apoia: Generation of Income, inclusion and citizenship to transform lives

Toque de Mão Project trains women from Santa Teresa communities

Lives transformed through an initiative focused on training women to boost income generation through activities such as embroidery, sewing and handicrafts. This is Toque de Mão (Touch of a Hand, in free English), a project supported by DPC aimed at the promotion of female entrepreneurship among residents of the communities of Santa Teresa.

Instituto Trilho, a non-governmental organization whose mission is to promote human development and inclusion in communities at social risk, coordinates the action. Citizenship, education, health, professional training and income generation are the main lines of action of the institution.

At Toque de Mão, the efforts are focused on technical training, entrepreneurship, business management guidance and networking.

DPC aims its support to the initiative through the city of Rio de Janeiro’s Culture Incentive Law. "We sought an action in the area surrounding the company, either to improve participation and monitoring, or to raise a positive influence on our community. Instituto Trilho proved to be very closely involved with the citizen issue, one of the pillars of DPC Transforma, our social responsibility program", explained Luciana Arakaki, responsible for the DPC's marketing area.

Toque de Mão, benefited by Domingues e Pinho, trains, on average, 31 women, most of them head of families of the communities of Santa Teresa.

In workshops held at the institution's headquarters, the craftswomen make pieces with the use of materials donated by partners, such as patchwork, knitwear, leather and banners, which give rise to bags, necessaires, ecological bags, cushions, etc.
